A Cook County company is suing over claims its employee was injured while doing custodial work at the Blue Cross Blue Shield building downtown.
A&R Janitorial, as statutory subrogee of Teresa Mroczko, filed a lawsuit Aug. 11 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Pepper Construction Co., Pepper Construction Group LLC, Perez Carpet, Perez & Associates Inc., CBRE Inc. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
According to the complaint, Mroczko, a custodian for A&R, was at the Blue Cross Blue Shield building on East Randolph Street in Chicago on Aug. 17, 2012, when a desk table that stood upright fell on her while attempting to remove trash from beneath a desk.
The building is owned by CBRE and Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the suit states, noting that Pepper Construction had been hired for construction work in the building and Pepper hired Perez Carpet to replace the carpet there.
The company accuses the defendants failing to warn visitors of the dangerous condition or erect barricades around the area.
A&R Janitorial is seeking damages it sustained through a workers' compensation claim and is being represented in the case by attorneys at the Roddy Law Ltd. in Chicago.
