A man is suing over claims he was injured while loading a truck when the driver pulled away from the loading dock without warning.
Omar Garcia filed a lawsuit July 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Willie B. Davis and B&B Brokers Inc.
According to the complaint, Davis, an employee of B&B Brokers, was at El Rey USA Meats & Seafood on West 74th Street in Chicago, where he was loading his truck with meat for distribution on Aug. 6, 2012.
Garcia, an employee of El Rey, was helping load Davis' truck, when Davis pulled away while Garcia was still on the loading ramp, causing him to fall and sustain injuries.
Davis is accused of failing to close the loading dock door and secure the loading ramp to signal the truck was ready to drive away from the dock, and B&B Brokers is accused of failing to train their employees with adequate safety rules.
Garcia is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Scott D. DeSalvo of The Law Office of Scott D. DeSalvo LLC in Chicago.
