Arlington Heights nursing home hit with suit over resident's fall during transfer from wheelchair to bed

A woman is suing over claims she was injured while a resident of an Arlington Heights nursing home.

Judith Hartmann filed a lawsuit Aug. 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Lutheran Life Communities and Lutheran Home for Aged Development Corp., both doing business as Lutheran Home.

According to the complaint, Hartmann was a resident of Lutheran Home on West Oakton Street in Arlington Heights on Aug. 26, 2012, when she fell while being transferred from her wheelchair to her bed and sustained serious injuries to her back.

The defendants are accused of negligence and violating the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

Hartmann is seeking more than $30,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Corey E. Meyer of Law Offices of Meyer & Blumenshine in Chicago.
