Festival-goers sue village after falling off golf cart at Taste of Melrose Park

A Cook County village is facing a lawsuit from two residents who claim they were injured after falling off a golf cart at a food festival last fall.

Miguel and Silvia Gonzalez filed a lawsuit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Village of Melrose Park, alleging negligence.

According to the suit, the Gonzalezes were rear-facing passengers on a golf cart operated by a village employee at The Taste of Melrose Park food festival on Sept. 1, 2013, when the driver accelerated abruptly, causing both men to fall off the cart and sustain injuries.

The Gonzalazes are seeking more than $50,000 in damages, and are represented by attorneys at Ankin Law Office in Chicago.

The case number is Cook County Circuit Court case 2014L009013.
