A man is suing a Mexican restaurant and nightclub on the city's Near North Side over claims he was injured by a group of intoxicated patrons.

Kyle Grygiel filed a lawsuit Aug. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against 15 Hubbard doing business as El Hefe, alleging violations of the state's Dram Shop Act.

According to the complaint, Grygiel was at El Hefe on West Hubbard Street on Sept. 1, 2013, when he claims he witnessed a table of six males growing increasingly rowdy and drunk and informed a security staff member.

Grygiel alleges the staff did nothing and continued to serve alcohol to the table. He further claims he was jumped, struck and injured by the men from the table sometime after midnight.

The defendant is accused of violating the Dram Shop Act by serving alcohol to the point of intoxication in a person or persons who then caused a personal injury.

Grygiel is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Michael E. Holden of Romanucci & Blandin in Chicago.

The case number is Cook County Circuit Court case 2014L009081.
