Indicted tutoring company sues Chicago Public Schools for breach of contract

Scales

A company that was indicted for fraud earlier this year is suing the city's school system, claiming it has not paid for tutoring services provided.

Babbage Net School Inc. filed a lawsuit Sept. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Board of Education of the City of Chicago, also known as Chicago Public Schools, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Babbage Net School entered into an agreement with Chicago Public Schools on Oct. 23, 2013 for Babbage to provide tutoring services and equipment. Babbage claims it provided the promised services, but the board has failed to pay and owes it more than $354,300.

Babbage is seeking the amount owed, plus interest and attorney fees. It is represented by attorney Purav Bhatt of The Law Office of Purav Bhatt in Lincolnwood.

The case number is Cook County Circuit Court case 2014L009374.
