A woman is suing over allegations she was injured on the walkway outside of a Walgreen's as a result of the store's lack of proper lighting.
Martha Yepez filed a lawsuit Sept. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co. Inc.
According to the complaint, Yepez was a customer of the Walgreen's on North Marine Drive in Chicago on Dec. 17, 2012, when she exited tripped over the walkway while exiting. Because the area around the walkway was dark, she claims it was difficult to see that there was a difference in height between the slabs of the walkway.
She accuses Walgreen's of failing to maintain the walkway and to make sure there was proper illumination.
Yepez is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Lee S. Schneider of Chicago.
