A Cook County woman is suing over claims she was injured when she fell from a gurney while being transported to the hospital.
Antonia Garcia filed a lawsuit Sept. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advantage Ambulance Inc.
According to the complaint, Garcia was picked up on Sept. 22, 2012 by the defendant company's ambulance at Ambassador Nursing Rehabilitation Home, where she resided, on North Bernard Street in Chicago for transport to Weiss Hospital on North Marine Drive.
Garcia says while she was being transported by defendant employees into the emergency room, she fell from the gurney and sustained injuries. The defendant is accused of negligence, failing to properly train its employees and secure the plaintiff to the gurney.
Garcia is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by Shea Law Group in Chicago.
