Woman blames Palatine bar for dance floor fall

A woman is suing a suburban Cook County bar, claiming she was injured when she fell on liquid left on the dance floor.

Laura Bennett filed a premises liability lawsuit Sept. 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against D Nellies Properties, doing business as Durty Nellie's West Irish Pub.

According to the complaint, Bennett was at Durty Nellie's on Smith Street in the Village of Palatine on Nov. 23, 2013, when she was caused to trip and fall on the dance floor. She accuses the defendant of negligently allowing liquid to accumulate on the floor.

Bennett is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorneys at Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy in Chicago.
