Owners of Lockport lot sued after man allegedly injured riding ATV

A man is suing the owners of a vacant lot in Lockport, where he claims he was injured after hitting a tree stump while riding his ATV.

Mark Haramija filed a lawsuit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Stanley and Bernadette Soltys, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Haramija was lawfully riding his ATV on the defendants' vacant lot on South Peppermill Trail in Lockport on Sept. 2, 2012, when he hit a tree stump and sustained injuries. He accuses Stanley and Bernadette Soltys of failing to maintain their lot or warn guests of the dangerous condition.

Haramija is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by Charles R. Culbertson of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum in Chicago.

The case number is Cook County Circuit Court case 2014L009011.
