A woman is suing a Bridgeview rehab center and doctor, claiming their negligent care contributed to the death of her sister.

Velma Gholston, individually and as special administrator of the Estate of Lucille Morning, filed a lawsuit Sept. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Midway Neurological and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Satwant S. Kingra.

According to the complaint, Morning was a resident at Midway from 2007 until 2009, during which time she received negligent care that resulted in her developing and suffering from pressure sores, dehydration, kidney failure and infection that led to her Feb. 10, 2009 death.

The suit includes counts alleging wrongful death, negligence and violations of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

Gholston is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorneys Craig L. Manchik and Lynne Plum Duffey of the Law Offices Craig L. Manchik & Associates in Chicago.
