A man is suing over claims he was injured when he slipped on the wet floor of a grocery store in Evanston.
Theodore Thomas filed a premises liability lawsuit Sept. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jewel-Osco, doing business as New Albertson's Inc., Supervalu Inc., ASP Realty Inc. and American Stores Properties.
According to the complaint, Thomas was walking toward the cashier at the defendants' store on Howard Street in Evanston on Sept. 27, 2012, when he slipped on water or a cleaning substance on the floor and sustained injuries.
He accuses the defendants of being negligent in failing to maintain the premises in a safe manner or warn customers of the danger.
Thomas is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by Marc J. Shuman & Associates in Chicago.
