A woman is suing over claims she was injured when a hospital allegedly gave her the wrong dose of radiation.

Ila M. Huggy filed a lawsuit Sept. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

According to the complaint, Huggy was diagnosed with recurrent squamous cell carcinoma involving the forehead in June 2013, and from July 24, 2013 until Aug. 21, 2013, underwent radiation treatment at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Huggy claims that during each of the 20 treatments over this time period, she received twice the dose prescribed by her doctor, causing burns to her head and neurological injury, among other injuries.

The defendant is accused of being negligent by improperly miscalibrating the superficial X-ray treatment machine.

Huggy is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Deborah A. Alroth of Cirignani Heller & Harman in Chicago.
