Woman slaps owners of dog that allegedly bit son with suit

The owners of a dog accused of biting a boy are facing a lawsuit from his mother.

On behalf of her minor son, Yesenia Garcia filed a lawsuit Sept. 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Belinda Garza, formerly known as Belinda Wilson, and Robert Garza, also known as Bobby Garza.

According to the complaint, Garcia's son was at his father's house on North Parkside Avenue in Chicago on Sept. 3, 2012, when a dog owned by the Garzas bit him. The defendants are accused of being negligent and violating the Illinois Animal Control Act.

Garcia is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Brett A. Kaufman of Marc H. Weinstein & Associate Ltd. in Hillside.
