A Cook County man is suing over claims he was injured by a bouncer at a Chicago bar.

Tomas Mercado filed a lawsuit Oct. 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Spybar Management LLC, also known as Spybar Chicago, and an unknown bouncer.

According to the complaint, Mercado was at Spybar Chicago on North Franklin Street on Sept. 25 when a bouncer pushed him and he fell. Mercado claims the bouncer continued to injure him until he lost consciousness and then left him in an alley near the bar's entrance.

The defendants are accused of direct negligence, vicarious liability and willful and wanton misconduct.

Mercado is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and costs. He is being represented in the case by attorney Peter K. Berg of Berg & Berg in Chicago.
