A man is suing a chiropractor and his practice, alleging he suffered neurological problems after a visit.

Jean Carlos Acevedo filed a lawsuit Oct. 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Michael Taylor, Taylor Rehabilitation & Wellness Center, and Taylor Chiropractic S.C., doing business as Taylor Rehabilitation & Wellness Center, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Acevedo went to Taylor on May 19 for a chiropractic manipulation of the lumbar spine. He claims Taylor failed to properly diagnose the him or consult with a physician before performing a flexion/distraction manipulation, which caused injuries to his nervous system.

Acevedo is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Edward M. Rubin of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum Ltd. in Chicago.
