A woman is suing over claims her doctors' negligence during and after her leg surgery required an above-the-knee amputation.
Yolanda Robinson filed a lawsuit Oct. 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Drs. Yukhol Lertsburapa and Raad Rashan, as well Lertsburapa's medical practice.
According to the complaint, Robinson slipped and fell on snow and ice and injured her left knee on Feb. 2, 2013, when she came under the care of the defendant doctors at Norwegian American Hospital, where she later underwent surgery.
Robinson accuses Lertsburapa of failing to use her vein for surgery on Feb. 5, 2013 and failing to perform fasciotomies, examine or order follow-up examinations to confirm the efficiency of the surgery.
She accuses Rashan of not consulting a hematologist on Feb. 7, 2013, and failing to call for immediate surgery and inform her that she had a non-palpable pulse in her leg. As a result of the defendants' alleged negligence, Robinson claims she had to have her left leg amputated above her knee.
She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorneys Jeffrey J. Tallis of Faklis & Tallis and Robert M. Warsaki of Law Offices of Robert M. Warsaki Ltd.
