A man is suing over claims his mother developed injuries and died in a Chicago nursing home.

Richard Morales, as special administrator of the Estate of Juana Maria Morale, filed a wrongful death lawsuit Sept. 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Woodbridge Nursing Pavilion Ltd., and Dynamic Healthcare Inc.

According to the complaint, Juana Maria Morales was a resident of the defendants' nursing home facility on North Kedzie Boulevard in Chicago in November 2012 when she began to develop worsening pressure ulcers that required surgery in January 2013.

Morales claims Juana Maria Morales suffered from infection as a result of the ulcers, an inability to breathe and heart failure, all of which contributed to her Feb. 13, 2013 death.

The defendants are accused of being negligent by not timely repositioning Juana Maria Morales to prevent the worsening of the ulcers and by failing to treat the ulcers and place rails on her bed to prevent falls.

Morales is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs, and is being represented in the case by attorney James G. Bonebrake of Friedman & Bonebrake P.C. in Chicago.
