Engineer sues Union Pacific Railroad Co. over slip and fall on floor

A man is suing over claims he was injured after slipping on the slick floor of a Union Pacific locomotive.

Craig Pugh filed a lawsuit Oct. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Union Pacific Railroad Co.

According to the complaint, Pugh was working as an engineer for Intermodal Services of America moving locomotives within Union Pacific's railroad yard in Joliet on Oct. 17, 2012, when he tried to set the hand brakes and slipped on oil on the engine floor, resulting in a shoulder injury.

The defendant is being sued pursuant to FELA for failing to properly service its locomotives or, in the alternative, negligence (premises liability).

Pugh is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Richard A. Haydu of Hoey & Farina, P.C. in Chicago.
