Fatal pedestrian-truck collision in Louisiana lands in Chicago's circuit court

The sister of a Louisiana man is suing a Chicago company, claiming he was struck and killed by one of its cement trucks while crossing the street.

Sharon LeMond, individually and as the representative of the Estate of Edwin Hoffa, filed a wrongful death lawsuit Oct. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Lefarge North America Inc.

According to the complaint, Hoffa was a pedestrian crossing the street in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, on Nov. 8, 2013, when he was run over and killed by a triple-axle cement truck owned by the defendant and operated by one of its employees.

LeMond is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs of suit and funeral expensesis represented by attorneys Mark W. Damish and John W. Damisch of Damisch & Damisch in Chicago.
