A Cook County man is seeking class action status in a lawsuit that alleges his former employer didn't pay him for overtime hours worked.
Mirzet Music, individually and on behalf of a class of employees similarly situated, filed suit Oct. 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Beta Electric Inc. and Sabid Redzic.
According to the complaint, Music and other hourly employees of Redzic's company, Beta Electric, were not paid overtime wages in violation of Illinois wage and payment laws.
Music also claims he was fired for seeking workers' compensation benefits after he injured his foot, elbow and neck at work and the defendants refused to pay for the medical expenses.
Music is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, back wages, and attorney fees. He is represented by attorney Ernest T. Rossiello in Chicago.
