A man is suing the owner of a grocery store chain, claiming its negligence caused him to slip on the wet floor of an Oak Lawn store's bathroom.

Jeffrey Porys filed a lawsuit Oct. 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jewel Food Stores Inc.

According to the suit, Porys was a customer at the Jewel off South Ridgeland Avenue in Oak Lawn on Feb. 17, when he slipped on the wet bathroom floor and sustained injuries. The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises, allowing water to leak from the sink and accumulate on the floor or allowing the floor drain to clog and back up.

Porys is seeking damages and costs. He is represented by attorney Timothy McArdle of Vinkler McArdle Frost in Chicago.
