Resident of Streeterville condo files suit over hot tub slip

A Cook County man is suing his condo association and property manager over claims he was injured getting in the hot tub at his Streeterville building.

Nicholas Jones filed a premises liability lawsuit Oct. 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Grand Ohio Condominium Association and Community Specialists.

According to the complaint, Jones resided in the defendants' building, The Grand Ohio, on East Ohio Street on Oct. 19, 2012, when he slipped and fell trying to enter the hot tub. Jones claims he sustained injuries to his back, shoulder and arm, which he struck on the concrete steps and floor.

The defendants are accused of failing to provide a safe, code-compliant hot tub and pool area.

Jones is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is representing himself.
