Scales

A Cook County man is suing over claims he suffered vision loss after eye surgery.

Dimitrios K. Kokonas filed suit Oct. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Thomas D. Patrianakos, individually and doing business as Northwest Chicago Eye Specialists.

According to the complaint, Kokonas underwent eye surgery performed by the defendant to remove a cataract from his left eye on Oct. 17, 2012 at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. Kokonas claims the surgery caused damage to his left eye, leading to vision loss and subsequent surgeries to attempt to repair the damage.

Kokonas accuses the defendant of medical negligence and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, as well as costs. He is represented by attorney Stephen T. Saporta of Joliet.
