Bicycle 150x150

A man is suing over claims he was injured when his bike struck a road sign allegedly lying across the sidewalk during roadwork.

Ralph M. Lichtenberger filed a premises liability lawsuit Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alliance Contractors Inc. and Work Zone Safety Inc.

According to the complaint, Lichtenberger was riding his bike on the eastbound sidewalk on the west side of Willow Road near its intersection with Princeton Lane in Glenview on Oct. 21, 2013, when his bike struck a road sign that was lying across the sidewalk and he fell, sustaining injuries to his head, knees, sternum, shoulder and elbow.

He claims he fell as result of the defendants' failure to adequately supervise the road work being done on Willow Road and to warn about the hazard on the sidewalk.

Lichtenberger is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Amy R. Perlman of Chicago.
