Rexam

A man is suing a global packaging company headquartered in Cook County, claiming he was injured in a defective work area.

Michael Selden filed a premises liability lawsuit Oct. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Rexam and Rexam Beverage Can Co.

According to the complaint, Selden was at the defendants' facility on West 43rd Street on Oct. 23, 2012, when he tripped over an alleged defect in a work area or platform on the premises and fell because there was no guard rail in place.

Selden, who claims he sustained injuries as a result of the fall, accuses the defendants of failing to maintain the area in a safe condition for people using the facility's stairway and failing to provide a safety device.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Marc D. Alberts of the Law Office of Marc D. Alberts in Chicago.
