A Cook County postal worker is suing three of his co-workers who he claims conspired to defame his character.
In a Nov. 24 complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court, Shawn T. Townsel of Richton Park alleges his United States Postal Service co-workers Charlotta Randle, Allsa Fells and Crystal Rankin conspired to seek revenge against him after he turned down their offers to socialize outside of work.
According to the complaint, Townsel alleges the women told his supervisor in November 2013 that he had threatened a fellow co-worker with a gun and had threatened them. Townsel says he was questioned by his supervisor’s manager, detained for six hours while his vehicle and locker were searched and was then placed on unpaid leave.
In addition to allegations of defamation and conspiracy, Townsel's suit includes counts against the three women for tortious interference with an economic relationship and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Townsel seeks damages in excess of $30,000, plus court costs, and is represented by attorney David G. Sigale of Glen Ellyn.
