A hospital employee is suing over claims of injuries sustained from a malfunctioning elevator.
Kathleen A. Lloyd filed suit Nov. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Urban Elevator Service, claiming she was injured using an elevator during the course of her work at Kindred Hospital in Northlake.
According to the complaint, Urban Elevator Service, the company contracted to maintain the hospital's elevators, failed to properly maintain the elevator, resulting in disabling injuries to Lloyd’s head, limbs and nervous system on Nov. 29, 2012.
The suit does not explain exactly how Lloyd was injured, but says Urban Elevator Service was negligent in failing to maintain and repair the elevators at the hospital so they would operate in a safe and suitable manner.
Lloyd also accuses the defendant of failing to inspect the elevators and warn users of the elevators that they were not operating in a safe manner.
She seeks damages in excess of $30,000, and is represented by attorney John J. Budin of Budin Law Offices of Chicago.
