Grand Lux owners face suit over customer's alleged slip and fall on floor

A Chicago woman is suing over claims she was injured after slipping on a greasy floor at the Grand Lux Cafe.

Phemara Reed filed suit Nov. 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Grand Lux Cafe LLC and its parent corporation, Cheesecake Factory Inc.

According to the complaint, Reed was at the Cheesecake Factory at 600 N. Michigan Ave. with a group of friends in April 2013, when she slipped and fell on a tile floor with a greasy film on it. Reed claims she injured vertebrae in her lower back and sustained damage to her knee that required surgery.

Reed seeks damages in excess of $50,000 and is represented by attorney James E. Bonebrake of Friedman & Bonebrake of Chicago.
