Medical transit company faces suit accusing driver of slamming door on client

A Chicago woman is suing a medical transportation service over claims she sustained injuries when its driver slammed the door of an ambulance on her.

Sheila Baker filed the lawsuit Dec. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against SCR Medical Transportation, alleging negligence of the ambulance driver.

According to the claim, Baker was exiting the back of an SCR ambulance on Aug. 13, 2013, when the vehicle’s driver closed the door on her right hand and arm, causing severe and permanent injuries.

Baker seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus court fees, and is represented by attorney Danielle Pappas of Miroballi, Durkin & Rudin in Chicago.
