A Chicago eye doctor faces a suit after allegedly performing an operation improperly, which led to the patient having eye issues.
Gislaine Pierre filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Donna L. Johnson, individually and doing business as South Shore Eye Center.
According to the complaint, Johnson was Pierre's optometrist from August 2010 to Dec. 7, 2012. On Feb. 11, 2011, the suit states, the plaintiff had cataract surgery and received an intraocular lens. After the surgery, Pierre claims she had constant issues in her right eye, as well as vision problems.
On Dec. 10, 2012, the suit states, Pierre went to a new doctor who told her she needed to have another surgery and determined Johnson had placed the lens in Pierre's eye improperly, which led to the eye issues she was experiencing.
Pierre seeks damages for the alleged misplacement of the lens, as well as failing to diagnose her post-surgery problem as being caused by the lens. She is represented by attorney David A. Statham of Newman, Boyer & Statham in Chicago.
