Local law firm sues Pepe's Mexican Restaurant for breach of contract

A Chicago law firm is suing a Mexican restaurant and its owner over claims a deal went sour.

Weis, DuBrock, Doody & Maher filed suit Dec. 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Santiago Vaca and Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, alleging breach of contract.

Vaca and Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant retained the law firm to try to obtain real estate tax and real estate assessment reductions, according to the complaint.

As part of the parties' agreement, Weis, DuBrock, Doody & Maher contends it was to receive a percentage of the reduction in the assessed valuation. Despite several requests from the plaintiff to collect, the suit alleges the defendants have failed to pay up,

Along with the current balance of $45,431.38, the law firm is seeking interest and any attorneys’ fees accrued from litigation. The firm is represented by Robert S. Minetz and Latimer LeVay Fyock LLC.
