Ashe 150x150

A suburban bar is facing a lawsuit from a customer who he claims he was hit by a car driven by a drunk patron following an altercation in the parking lot.

Nicholas Boyd filed a lawsuit Dec. 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against Galways Inc., doing business as Galway Bar & Grill, and Michael McGuinness.

According to the complaint, Boyd was at Galway Bar & Grill on Roosevelt Road in Elmhurst on May 23, when McGuinness was also a patron and served alcohol to the point of intoxication.

Boyd claims he had an altercation with McGuinness both in the bar and in the parking lot after they exited the bar sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. McGuinness allegedly got in his car while intoxicated, drove out the bar parking lot and stuck Boyd with his car at an intersection before leaving the scene, the suit states.

As a result of the incident, Boyd contends he sustained severe injuries that required multiple hospital and forced him to incur medical expenses. He is suing McGuinness and Galway Bar for negligence, and the bar under the state's dram shop act.

Boyd is represented by attorneys Timothy Ashe and Kristina Green of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
