Alleged dog attack in Skokie triggers lawsuit

A Skokie man is facing a lawsuit over claims his dog attacked a another man and his dog.

Jerry Spyratos filed suit Dec. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Lawrence Lance, alleging negligence and violations of the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to the complaint, Spyratos was walking his dog, George, on a lease near the defendant’s home in Skokie on Feb. 2, 2013, when Lance’s dog, Asker, attacked without provocation, knocking over and/or biting them.

The plaintiff alleges Lance failed to properly secure his dog and provide a warning that his dog had dangerous tendencies.

Spyratos seeks damages in excess of $50,000 and is represented by the Law Offices of Gregory G. Balos in Chicago.
