Two Cook County medical doctors and a medical facility are being sued for malpractice after they allegedly failed to notify a patient he had suffered a heart attack.

John Zabloudil filed suit in December 2014, in Cook County Circuit Court against Drs. Michael McDonnell and Robert Blanco, and Mercy Hospital & Medical Center.

According to the complaint, Zabloudil went to McDonnell on Aug. 15, 2013, complaining of chest pains, lightheadedness and shortness of breath. McDonnell ordered a chest X-ray and told the plaintiff to call back the next day to check the results.

He asserts he called to twice on Aug. 16, 2013, when he was not provided with the results or told they were indicative of a having had a heart attack, the suit states. Zabloudil asserts that neither McDonnell, who ordered the test, nor Blanco, who confirmed the results, contacted him with the results.

On Aug. 17, 2013, Zabloudil alleges he went to the emergency room at Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital, complaining of chest pain, nausea and shortness of breath. The suit states he was diagnosed with having a heart attack and underwent surgery to treat his condition, including a cardiac catheterization, angiography and angioplasty.

Zabloudil claims the defendants' alleged failure to inform him of his results and properly treat him caused him to sustain severe cardiac damage. He is seeking damages and is represented by attorney Terrence M. Quinn of Phillips Law Offices in Chicago.
