A Chicago doctor is suing a nurse who she claims injected her with the wrong dose and type of allergy medication.
Dr. Marilyn Griffin filed suit Tuesday in the Cook County Circuit Court against Julia Marshall, a registered nurse who administered her allergy shot on Jan. 7, 2014 at a facility operated by University of Illinois Hospital and Health Services System in Chicago.
According to the complaint, Marshall administered her drugs intended for another patient that consisted of the wrong type and dose of allergy medication, causing her to endure pain and suffer an allergic reaction.
"In the wake of the administration of medication to the Plaintiff, Nurse Marshall admitted to certain physicians and healthcare workers that she had, in fact, administered the wrong allergy medication to the Plaintiff in a grossly excessive and incorrect dosage," the suit states.
As a result of Marshall's alleged negligence, Griffin claims she had to be hospitalized and was forced to incur medical expenses. She is seeking damages and is represented by Jeff Brown of Dinizulu Law Group Ltd. in Chicago.
