A California resident is suing a giant in the hotel industry over claims she fell when a faulty shower seat broke loose from the wall.
Frances Rutledge filed suit Feb 5. against Hilton Worldwide Inc., doing business as Doubletree Hilton by Hilton Chicago-Oak Brook.
According to the complaint, Rutledge was at Doubletree Hilton at 1909 Spring Road in Oak Brook on July 17, 2014, when she sat on the shower seat, it broke loose from the wall and she fell to the floor.
She accuses the hotel of failing to notice the faulty and hazardous shower seat, failing properly mount, install and inspect the shower seat for safety and negligently renting her a room with a faulty shower seat.
Rutledge is seeking damages of more than $50,000 and is represented by Chicago attorney William A. Jaeger.
