A man is suing a group of doctors over complications with a 2013 procedure intended to fix a penile prosthesis he had placed more than a decade ago.
Gabriel Rodriguez filed suit on Feb. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Drs. Ervin Kocjancic, Wendy Padilla, Harpreet Wadhwa and Anuja Antony, alleging medical malpractice.
According to the complaint, Rodriguez underwent placement of an inflatable penile prosthesis in 2000 and went to Kocjancic, Padilla and Wadhwa in January 2013 with complaints of prosthetic function issues.
Rodriguez says Kocjancid and Padilla replaced his prosthesis on Feb. 21, 2013, but claims the doctors failed to properly perform the procedure and as a result, experienced a host of problems, including swelling and dry gangrene that required additional hospitals and surgeries.
He further claims those doctors and Wadhwa failed to properly and promptly respond to his complaints and provide proper treatment. He also accuses Antony, the doctor who provided care after the three other doctors, of being negligent in his care and treatment.
Citing pain and suffering, loss of a normal life, and large medical bills, Rodriguez seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorneys’ fees and costs. He is represented in the case by Louis Hilfman of Hilfman & Head in Chicago.
