Flash Cab, others hit with wrongful death suit alleging cab dragged man

A woman is suing a cab company and its insurer over a 2013 incident in which her late husband was dragged by a cab after trying to exit the vehicle.

Susan Suhar, individually and as estate administrator for Matthew Suhar, filed suit Feb. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against 5 Star Flash Inc., doing business as Flash Cab Co., 5 Star Taxi Association Inc., Dart Cab, Flash Taxi, 303 Taxi LLC, Wesco Insurance Co.,  and an unknown cab driver.

According to the complaint, Matthew called for a cab outside a Chicago establishment on or about March 9, 2013 to take him to his Berteau Avenue residence. The driver stopped at the corner of Berteau and Kimball avenues to let him out and as Matthew exited the taxi, the cab began moving.

Suhar claims Matthew fell and the cab dragged him across the street, causing him to strike his head on the pavement. Witnesses, the suit alleges, say the cab did not stop and left the scene of the accident, which led to Matthew's March 16 death.

Suhar is seeking damages and is represented by Samuel Kavathas of Kavathas & Castanes in Chicago.
