A Chicago law firm is suing group of clients over claims they have failed to pay their bill for services dating back to 2010.
Harrison & Held LLP filed suit on Feb. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against David Delach, James Pye as trustee of the Delach Family Irrevocable Trust, Richard Delisle and Donna Delisle as trustee of the Donna Delisle Self-Declared Living Trust.
According to the complaint, real estate developers and investors David Delach and Richard Delisle contracted Harrison & Held to represent them in a pending lawsuit in McHenry County in 2010.
The firm alleges the agreement stipulated payment would be made according to a standard hourly rate, plus reimbursement for incidental expenses and interest on any unpaid balance. The litigation was resolved and the suit was dismissed in spring 2014.
In 2012, Delach and Delisle requested the plaintiff’s representation in a second matter, in Lake County, and additionally asked them to represent Pye and Donna Delisle in connection with that case. That matter, the suit says, was dismissed in summer 2014.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff’s invoices to the defendants were paid in a timely fashion until summer 2014. The suit states that when the second suit was dismissed, the outstanding balance of $115,991.06 was ignored.
Harrison & Held seeks that amount, plus interest, attorneys’ fees and costs. The firm is represented by its own attorneys, Peter Economos, Bruce Friedman and Jeffrey Halldin.
