A pedestrian who claims he was struck by a taxi is suing the driver and two cab companies.
Jeremy Lande filed a lawsuit March 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Sulaiman Ashaye, Shaun Jr. Taxi Inc. and Chicago Elite Cab Corp.
According to the complaint, Lande was struck by a cab operated by Ashaye on Oct. 20, 2014 while he was walking on Bessie Coleman Drive in Chicago. The vehicle was owned by Shaun Jr. Taxi and managed by Chicago Elite Cab Corp., the suit states.
Lande accuses the defendants of failing to exercise ordinary care to avoid a collision, keep a proper lookout, maintain proper speed, leave sufficient unobstructed room on the roadway for other vehicles to pass unharmed and give audible warning.
He seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus interest, attorney fees and costs, and is being represented by attorney Daniel Kirschner of Corboy & Demetrio in Chicago.
