Pedestrian blames city for trip over pothole

The city is facing a lawsuit from a man who contends he tripped over a pothole while walking across the street in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.

Floyd Headley filed suit March 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the city, alleging he sustained injuries after tripping on a pothole while walking through a crosswalk near the intersection of Clark Street and Devon Avenue on March 3, 2014.

He accuses the city of being negligent by failing to remedy or repair the crosswalk, or warn intended users of the crosswalk of its dangerous condition. He is seeking damages and is represented by Benjamin B. Kelly of Chicago.
