Son sues hospital, doctors over mother's death

Brasfield 150x150

A Cook County man is suing Little Company of Mary Hospital, three doctors and three practices over the death of his mother.

Steve Pacelli filed the wrongful death lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against the hospital; Drs. Ewa Hampston, Godofredo Carandang and Lourdes Floro; Southwest Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine; Southwest Infectious Disease Associates; and Southwest Allergy Associates.

The lawsuit alleges that on Feb. 4, 2013, the hospital and the deceased's caregivers failed to administer appropriate antibiotics, negligently administered inappropriate and nephrotoxic antibiotics, and were careless and negligent. The result was "serious and permanent injuries which proximately resulted" in Pacelli's death, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiff is represented by Amanda Brasfield of Kralovec, Jambois and Schwartz of Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 15-L-2928.
