Woman sues Jewel-Osco over slip on ice

A Cook County woman has sued Jewel-Osco and the companies responsible for property management and snow removal for injuries she allegedly suffered when she slipped on ice outside the grocery store.

Joanne Kelly filed a lawsuit March 19 in Cook County Circuit Court, against Jewel Food Stores, doing business as Jewel-Osco, New Albertson's Inc., doing business as Jewel-Osco, C.J. Snow Removal and Cherry Logistics Corp., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the defendants allowed ice to accumulate on the property at 2317 E. 75th St., Woodridge, on Dec. 29, 2013, when Kelly fell and sustained severe and permanent disabling injuries and suffered acute and prolonged physical and mental pain.

Kelly seeks damages in excess of $200,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney David C. McCracken of the Law Offices of Stephen G. Pinto in Chicago.
