Father sues dog owner after attack on daughter

A Hickory Hills man has sued the owner of a dog that allegedly bit and injured his daughter while she played in her front yard.

Zbigniew Lizak, on behalf of his daughter Alexzandra, a minor, filed a lawsuit March 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Thomas M. Chrobak.

According to the lawsuit, on March 26, 2013, Aleksandra Lizak was playing in the front yard at 8937 Maple Lane, Hickory Hills, when she was attacked by the dog, Auron. The suit says "the vicious dog was unprovoked" and that Aleksandra suffered injuries and has been subjected to pain, suffering and disfigurment.

The suit says because Auron's owner, Chrobak, failed to keep the dog from escaping from his home nearby, at 9048 Oakwood Drive, Chrobak violated the Illinois Animal Control Act and should be liable for the injuries suffered by Lizak.

The Lizaks seeks $150,000, plus attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney Conrad Szewczyk of the Law Offices of Conrad Szewczyk in Chicago.
