Doctors, surgery center sued for malpractice

An Orland Park woman has sued a doctor and three health care firms, alleging medical malpractice.

Kathryn Gorman filed suit March 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Neeraj Jain; Pain Care Specialists, of Hinsdale; Pinnacle Pain Management Specialists; and Southwest Surgery Center, doing business as the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, in Mokena.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 13, 2014, Jain performed a celiac plexus nerve block on Gorman during which he inserted needles between two of her vertebra. As a result, the lawsuit states, Gorman suffered bilateral pneumothoraces.

Gorman seeks damages of more than $200,000, plus costs. She is is represented by attorneys Steven J. Seidman and Melanie K. Fairman of Seidman, Margulis and Fairman in Chicago.
