The operator of a Chicago shopping center has sued a former tenant, alleging unpaid rent.
Acadia Chicago, owner of Bel-Ray Shopping Center on West Belmont Avenue, filed a lawsuit April 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against Greenforest Fireplace and Patio Co., and Reynaldo Quesada.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 1, 2009, Greenforest leased a unit in the center, with Quesada offering a personal lease guaranty. But Greenforest didn't vacate the property at the termination of its lease on Dec. 31, 2014, staying in the unit until March 16, and didn't pay Acadia for doing so.
Acadia Chicago seeks unpaid rent of $38,021 and late payment charges of $1,901, plus interest, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by attorneys Martin B. Carroll and Erik J. Ives of Fox, Swibel, Levin and Carroll, of Chicago.
Cook County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-3814.
