Woman sues Lisle group home over alleged attack by resident

Rhatigan 150x150

A woman has sued the owner of a group home in Lisle, where she allegedly was attacked by one of the home's residents.

Diana Arp filed suit April 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Childserv, which owns the group home at 4603 Main St. in Lisle.

According to the complaint, Childserv was aware that "some of its residents were capable of and prone to violent behavior" and on Sept. 28, 2013, Arp was on the sidewalk outside the Childserv home, when she was attacked by a home resident. The suit states the attack knocked Arp to the ground and the resident continued to yank on her three or four times.

The suit alleges Childserv failed: "to properly supervise its residents; to warn ... Arp that certain residents were prone to violent behavior and likely to attack; to ensure that (security detail, Millennium Security) provided adequate security personnel at the Lowden Homes; to adequately protect Arp from a foreseeable, unreasonable risk of harm; and to contact local law enforcement" in time to prevent the incident.

The plaintiff cites injuries of a "personal, permanent and pecuniary nature."

Arp seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Timothy P. Rhatigan, of the Rhatigan Law Offices in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No.: 15-L-4367.
