A Berwyn resident has filed suit against Walmart over injuries she allegedly sustained when she slipped and fell at the chain's Hodgkins store in 2013.
Mirta Gautier brought a complaint May 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against Walmart claiming liability in a May 2013 injury.
According to court documents, the plaintiff was on the premises of Walmart's Store #1892, 9450 Joliet Road, Hodgkins, on May 19, 2013, when she slipped and fell on a liquid substance on the floor, believed to be detergent, in or near the detergent aisle.
Gautier alleges Walmart was negligent in failing to remove, clean, fix or repair the spill; neglecting to inspect and maintain the area in question; and failing to warn the plaintiff of the unsafe condition.
Citing injuries, substantial medical bills, lost wages due to her temporary inability to work, and pain and suffering, the plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney’s fees and costs. She is represented in the case by Dennis Kellogg, of the Law Offices of Dennis J. Kellogg in Chicago.
