A Cook County woman has sued John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and two doctors she alleges are responsible for negligent steroid injections.

Marta Perea filed suit May 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against the county hospital and Dr. David K. Wahba and Dr. Abed Rahman, citing negligence for each defendant.

According to the complaint, on May 7, 2014, Perea went to the county hospital in Chicago and was treated by both doctors for chronic lower back pain. The doctors prescribed a pain management regimen and gave her steroid injections, the suit states, and one of those injections was "negligently, carelessly and improperly" placed, so the plaintiff suffered "severe and permanent neurological injuries."

Perea seeks unspecified damages, plus costs in excess of the court's jurisdictional minimum amount. She is represented by attorney Jon C. Papin, of Cogan and Power in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No.: 15-L-4651.
